What is a Market Dialogue

You might have noticed that we recently posted our first market dialogue report. This one was on the mobile music industry (something our firm has worked on quite a bit this past year). We are writing these reports to provide insights into how the business markets will discuss particular topics next year. Our assumption, as communications professionals, is that a market discussion takes place between company executives, media, analysts, customers and other influentials. The market discussion, or dialogue, as a whole tends to be very public (in reports, articles, conferences etc).

I’ve always been one to say that it’s easier to fit into a discussion and convince participants to see your angle, as opposed to simply changing the topic (e.g., introducing a new product category). As a result, I’ve always thought that good strategic and messaging planning meant knowing how the market would discuss a topic in the future. In other words, what would the market dialogue look like. That is what we aim to show in these reports.

Over the next several months we will be releasing several reports. Right now we are looking at business process outsourcing, human resources and telecommunications/networking as potential topics. If you have any ideas as to what would make a good topic, please e-mail me (cohen AT fortexgroup.com) with you suggestions.
